On-snow review

These skis are already familiar, but this time we tested the stronger LTD version fitted with the new and highly effective FDT Race Plate Pro B. They divided our testers: many considered them the best in the category, while a smaller group raised objections. They unquestionably have character. Comments included: “They initiate beautifully rounded arcs and generate excellent drive throughout the entire turn. Very enjoyable skis with a sporting personality.” Another tester wrote: “On morning corduroy they carve like a dream. Long or short radii make little difference, although they do not have a natural tendency to tighten the turn. They spring pleasantly out of the arc without being violent enough to throw you from the saddle. Skidded turns and short turns are smooth, giving them substantial versatility. Very pleasant skis.” We also heard: “Firecrackers! Responsive, dynamic and almost desperate to leap instantly onto edge. Energy-efficient and enormously enjoyable.” This was followed by: “Incredibly intuitive and confidence-inspiring. I feel they adapt to the skier’s technique. Short turns, long turns – take your pick, and all without much effort. No adaptation period is needed. Step in and you like them immediately. Secure, turny, comfortable and versatile. What more could you ask?” From the grumblers came: “Good skis, but nothing more. There is little to criticise. Their only real weakness is a tendency to vibrate at high speed.” And: “Unfortunately, these skis look better than they perform.”

Tester’s take
“The best in the group, perhaps even in the entire test. Perfectly refined skis – exceptionally smooth and fluid. They return the energy you put into them superbly. Stable, yet remarkably delicate and easy to ski. For me, the ideal high-performance model.”
