INDEPENDENT SKI TEST

There is no best ski. Only the best ski for you.

Find your kind of ski.

Independent ski tests on snow. Detailed reviews of how each ski feels and who it suits.

A Polish skiing tradition. Now in English.

For more than two decades, Poland’s Independent Ski Test has helped skiers choose their equipment. Now you can read our reviews in English, from the team behind NTN Snow & More.

How we test

There is no best ski.
Only the best ski for you.

The most powerful ski isn’t necessarily the right one for you. We go beyond the specs to explain how each ski handles, what it demands of the skier and who it suits. We don’t give overall scores or rank skis from best to worst.

On snow, where the differences come to life.

Tested on snow.
Reviewed in detail.

Our test groups work through the ski categories, testing on the same pistes and repeating the same manoeuvres. If a ski needs another run, we take it.

Technicians prepare the equipment throughout the test. Our reviews describe differences you won’t find on a spec sheet.

Different skiers.
Different perspectives.

Our team includes instructors, former racers, keen skiers and ski-shop representatives. Each brings a different perspective to the test.

Tomasz Kurdziel, editor-in-chief of NTN Snow & More, founded the Independent Ski Test to help skiers understand their equipment, rather than reduce each ski to a single score.

The reviews come from NTN Snow & More, a Polish ski magazine with 30 years of publishing experience.

A week on the glacier.

We test in Kaunertal, spending a week skiing in changing snow conditions, repeating runs and discussing the skis long after the lifts close.

Behind the scenes

Before you choose.

Do you rank the skis?

No. We don’t calculate an overall score or name an overall winner. Scores for individual criteria show how each ski performs in different areas. Our testers’ favourites are personal choices, with each pick attributed to its author.

What can I read for free?

The 2025/2026 archive includes specifications, full reviews in English and comments attributed to individual testers. Scores for individual criteria are available in the PDF only. For 2026/2027, you can browse specifications and short introductions online; the full reviews and scores will be in the paid PDF guide.

Why does the tested length matter?

Each review covers a specific season, length and configuration. When we test a model in different lengths or categories, we keep those reviews separate so you know exactly which version we skied.

Is the new PDF available?

Not yet. We’re preparing the 2026/2027 edition. In the meantime, explore the 2025/2026 archive or find out how we test.
