On-snow review

Successive versions of these skis have been with us for several years. They have devoted fans, but also skiers who speak about them more critically. The test pair was fitted with the lighter Konect plate and binding system. Comments included: “Excellent skis. Energy return and the ability to hold the chosen radius are their defining qualities. They have enjoyable drive on a GS course. Fairly stiff, but not plank-like. I would recommend them to somewhat heavier skiers.” Another tester wrote: “Very dynamic skis for this group. Their construction is close to the Masters category. Stable through the turns and versatile in free skiing thanks to the 70 mm waist. Better suited to heavier skiers.” We also heard: “Top-class skis, but not for anyone with weak legs. They need mileage and time before you can use them properly, especially when coming out of the turn.” There were other voices too: “Rather friendly and comfortable. Easy turn initiation and effortless changes of rhythm. Good edge grip. Even quite dynamic. Successful consumer GS skis that will not kill you.” Another comment read: “Skis you do not have to fight. They track predictably. Carved turns come without difficulty. Their edge grip could be better.”

Tester’s take
“Wonderful skis – my number one in the group. Fairly stiff and dynamic, with superb support on edge, yet also very turny. You can really commit, get deep into the turns and play. Dynastar is clearly out in front in this category.”
