On-snow review
Very serious skis. True GS skis. Narrow, slender, stiff and long, with a radius exceeding 27 metres. No wonder only the very best can master them. Comments included: “Only for the very best Masters racers. Stiff skis with a large turn radius. Narrow at the tips, so they are not especially quick to initiate.” Another tester wrote: “These skis belong to a completely different category. You can feel that they have a 27-metre radius. It is difficult to make them turn unless the slope is steep and the speed high. They are exceptionally stable. They are not suited to free skiing on open pistes at all. On a flat run, there is no way to bend them because you cannot generate enough speed. On a course set like the one used in our test, they are too stiff and it is difficult to make the gates.” We also heard: “I found them hard work and they demanded a great deal of strength and input. At 185 cm with a 27-metre radius, many test pilots will struggle to control these skis, let alone fit them through the gates. Because they are so narrow, they do not feel especially stable in the turns. You can ski them well, but it is difficult and demanding. Even so, they are dynamic and, were it not for the length, they would be excellent in the gates too.” Then came a warning: “If you lack strength or technique, you will not tame these skis. Very race-oriented. If your knees are not up to it, give them a miss.” Finally: “Very few recreational skiers have the strength and skill to carve arcs on them. Stiff, powerful skis, but strangely nervous when running straight.”
“When I took these skis out, I expected them to be more difficult than they ultimately proved. Their dimensions obviously demand speed and a fair amount of strength, but not an enormous amount. Once they are on edge and you pressure the outside ski, they provide the impulse to start the next turn. They provide stable turn tracking and good edge grip.”
