On-snow review

The Wildcat was the widest model in the women’s test, yet it still received a warm welcome. These are typical all-mountain skis, so the tested length – only 160 cm – appeared somewhat too short. Comments included: “Very stable and pleasant, inspiring confidence at higher speeds even on hard snow. The Wildcat has claws – these skis are dynamic and grip securely. Good on steep and gentle pistes alike. The technology that dictates a separate left and right ski is entirely unnecessary, however. It is merely an added complication.” Another tester wrote: “Despite their width, they are very turny and respond well. Even at low speed, they seek the edge by themselves, making them easy and supportive of good technique. At higher speeds, however, they begin to wander slightly and lose stability through the arc.” We also heard: “Very pleasant skis for soft conditions. Fairly versatile across different turn lengths, although I would recommend them to more accomplished skiers. They return energy superbly and feel dynamic.” This was followed by: “Enjoyable and highly versatile – genuine all-mountain skis. They cope well in deeper, softer snow. The width underfoot makes them relatively slow from edge to edge, but stable in return.”

Tester’s take
“Very good skis. They perform superbly both on ungroomed sections and on fresh morning corduroy. Strong grip on hard snow, especially beneath the boot. Fairly heavy and better suited to advanced women, but highly enjoyable.”
