On-snow review

A completely new construction of which Head is very proud, replacing the skis on which Ted Ligety could carve seemingly impossible arcs. Our testers liked this model enormously too, and it finished third on points. Comments included: “The best All-Mountain Classic ski. Very stable in long turns and excellent both on chopped-up pistes and off piste.” Another tester wrote: “Surprisingly good on piste in carved turns. Stable, excellent at damping irregularities and even capable in deep, loose snow. Enjoyable in short turns. The combination of rebound and stability makes them great fun.” We also heard: “Surprisingly light and effective in short turns, even on a very steep, hard piste. Despite that low weight – strangely enough – they remain highly stable in long carved arcs at greater speeds. Apply enough pressure and they finish the turn neatly. I like them.” This was followed by: “Light and agile, yet surprisingly stable. Suitable for every kind of snow and highly effective in moguls.” Another tester added: “I became friends with these skis very quickly. On piste they are tremendously versatile and track a wide range of radii with precision. They can do almost everything except super-fast, race-style long arcs on hard snow. Off piste they are superb. Exceptionally friendly skis – I could own them.” Finally: “Supple and comfortable, absorbing irregularities well. Agile, although not especially dynamic. In loose snow they skim lightly across the surface and work very well off piste. True all-mountain skis.”

Tester’s take
“Very good and exceptionally versatile skis. They hold carved turns solidly whether the snow is soft or hard. You can load them confidently and they remain secure. Excellent in skidded turns too. Hugely versatile and even quite dynamic – perhaps the most versatile skis in the group.”
