On-snow review
A limited special edition from Head bearing the Porsche name. Noblesse oblige – and most of our testers liked them. The only reservations concerned the size, as the test pair measured just 170 cm. Comments included: “First thought: a repainted Supershape Magnum – but no! Extremely smooth and remarkably versatile. They have a short turn radius and excellent rebound in short carved arcs. Wide and fast? Surprisingly, they can do that too, provided you keep pressure on the fronts. The tails sweep through short turns beautifully. They feel velvety and comfortable, perhaps partly thanks to the Protector bindings.” Another tester wrote: “Definitely the easiest skis in the group. They move smoothly and effortlessly from one arc to the next. Secure and composed, without any loss of control. They require little effort, yet pressure them properly and they return energy beautifully. They demand neither outstanding technique nor great strength and can readily be recommended to less accomplished skiers. And this is the only new Porsche available at this price!” We also heard: “A real Porsche – slalom skis for the whole day. Anyone who enjoys dynamic skiing on well-groomed pistes and wants to do it throughout an entire holiday will find tremendous pleasure here. Dynamic, turny and capable of excellent grip even at higher speeds.” Finally, a little bitterness in the honey: “Spirited! You need to keep them on a tight rein because they can suddenly leap sideways. They are superb in quick, short turns – that is what they were made for – yet they also carry medium and longer arcs with grace. They do not forgive dawdling during the transition from one turn to the next.”
“A gentler version of the e-Race Pro, but certainly no worse to ski. Highly versatile and almost always smooth, with a secure platform on edge. Good in skidded turns too. They turn easily and never demand a wrestling match. Every skier will find something to enjoy here. I have no reservations at all.”
