On-snow review

This Head model has been with us for a very long time. Continually modernised and refined, it has resisted the passage of time while retaining the original concept. Among the longest and widest skis in the group, it appealed far more strongly to heavier, powerful skiers. Comments included: “Serious skis with a powerful construction and substantial stiffness. That allows them to travel very quickly while retaining stability, both when running straight and through arcs where the grip is fantastic. They do exactly what you tell them – just do not do anything stupid. They let you know when you make a mistake. Progressive skis, particularly for people with strong legs. At this length they float pleasantly through skidded turns and suit extension-unweighting technique. Curiously, simple scrubbed turns require little force. The version with Protector bindings is exceptionally comfortable because the binding construction also filters vibration.” Another tester wrote: “Very good, stable and trustworthy even at higher speed. With greater force you can carve shorter turns too, although medium arcs reveal their full potential.” Lighter skiers complained: “Somewhat cumbersome skis. Turn initiation demands a great deal of force. Stable in long arcs at high speed.” And: “Heavy, slow and slightly dull. Little rebound and a huge appetite for strength.”

Tester’s take
“Excellent and versatile – a true extension of the feet. Secure both on edge and in skidded turns. The snow was already somewhat beaten up, yet they held the line securely and smoothly, without tip chatter or wandering.”
