On-snow review

Following the enormous success of the Multigara, Nordica’s technicians set out to create a ski for a wider audience and a broader range of conditions. The result is the Multipista. Opinions were divided, largely because too many testers expected Multigara-level performance. Comments included: “Enjoyable and fairly versatile all-day skis. Easy and light to handle, yet very secure on edge. The rocker – too pronounced in my view – makes them slightly hesitant when initiating a carved turn, but they are comfortable and absorb irregularities well.” Another tester wrote: “Secure, stable and free of surprises – a compliment. Excellent on groomed, hard pistes, where they pull through the arc with harmony and grace. Long and medium carved turns require relatively little effort. Even when the piste softens, there is still plenty to extract from them.” We also heard: “Something beautiful! They feel wonderful from the first turn. Stable, quick from edge to edge, easy and therefore highly versatile. The stiffness is well judged, they do not wander, and in soft snow they do not sink excessively. Enormous fun.” There were dissenting views, however: “Nordica’s technicians sacrificed almost all the wonderful qualities of the Multigara in return for a touch of rocker and another four millimetres underfoot. The Multipista is not bad, but it pales beside the competition within its own family, and I do not understand why. It is a ski for dynamic piste skiing in poorer conditions.” And: “They look excellent and I hoped they would ski the same way. They are stiff, which makes them feel like a car without suspension in soft snow. On hard snow, they take too long to bring you into the turn.”

Tester’s take
“They initiate easily and require little effort. Pressured at the end of the arc, they surprise you with a welcome burst of energy. Good instructor skis, at their best in medium-radius turns and short turns.”
