On-snow review

New for the coming season, although very similar to their predecessors, these skis have earned enormous respect from our testers for years. Nothing changed this time: the Redster S9 RS finished third on points and received the silver medal. Comments included: “Exceptionally good skis. Atomic levels of rebound. They return energy superbly in every turn, which makes them enormous fun. You can carve extremely short arcs on them. Turn initiation is active and they remain stable throughout the arc. Very good in the gates. They inspire control and move rapidly from turn to turn. Expert skis that deliver a great deal of enjoyment.” Another tester wrote: “The old saying ‘without the star, there is no proper skiing’ still holds true. Atomic retains its unmistakable race-bred bite. A very carefully conceived construction with a sporting edge that will suit a wide range of skiers.” We also heard: “Wonderful skis. They return the energy you put into them superbly. They carve like demons and bite beautifully into hard snow. They do demand work from the skier, so I would recommend them to advanced users.”

Tester’s take
“Oh Yahweh! Tremendous fun. Every element is spot on. Even high-speed skidding works exactly as it should. If they run into deeper piles of pushed-up snow, they hold their line and carry you cleanly out of trouble.”
