On-snow review

This familiar model has one of the longest turn radii in the group – more than 21 metres at a length of 180 cm. At the same time, the skis are fairly supple, creating a rarely encountered combination. Our testers were sharply divided. Comments included: “Agile, easy to control, versatile and light underfoot. Good edge grip. Slightly unstable at higher speeds.” Another tester wrote: “Active skiing only. If you are not active, the skis straighten the line. Very secure through the arc, but they demand constant control. I would recommend them mainly to heavier skiers.” We also heard: “Skis that demand concentration. They need a little more speed before they flow smoothly from turn to turn. The edges grip well, but the skis require stronger pressure to track through the arc. Better suited to heavier skiers with stronger technique.” This was followed by: “The longer turn radius allows fast skiing both in free skiing and on a GS course. They lack a little energy return.” Another tester added: “Among the most supple skis in the group. Light and easy to steer. An excellent choice for skiers looking for their first-ever pair of GS skis.” Ostra: “These skis are a bit average… They were quite decent in the gates, but felt rather sluggish in free skiing because they are slow from edge to edge…”

Tester’s take
“Very approachable GS skis. Springy and dynamic. They move easily from edge to edge and do not demand much strength. I would recommend them to good, lighter skiers. They work well in the gates too – it is easy to initiate the turn exactly where you want it.”

On-snow review

These skis are simply different from most of the others in the group. In fact, they are the same skis that appeared in the consumer GS category, but fitted with a race plate and matching bindings. This makes them better suited to amateur racers. Comments included: “Interesting, dynamic skis. Good edge grip. Long turns are great fun. They will work best on exceptionally well-groomed pistes. They can handle the gates too.” Another tester wrote: “Very enjoyable skis. Fairly dynamic, very stable and smooth. They are neither excessively stiff nor difficult. They deliver plenty of fun on well-groomed pistes in long, flowing turns. They performed perfectly well in the gates. They are quick from edge to edge and you can feel their energy. Good for a light amateur racer.” We also heard: “They are different… More like consumer models than Masters skis. Pleasant, but less effective in the gates. Easier than the rest, although I would expect more guts from skis placed in such a race-oriented group.” This was followed by: “In the consumer GS category, these skis would be a very strong contender. Their dimensions – length and radius – make them suitable for all-day use. Very approachable in the gates, with enjoyable rebound – skis for those taking their first steps in racing. Good skis.”

Tester’s take
“Energy and confidence through the arc are the defining features of these skis. Their turn tracking is excellent – you do not have to keep them under constant control. Put them on edge and they carve smoothly through the arc, but they are equally easy to release into a skid. Dynamic and confidence-inspiring through the turns. Recommended.”
