On-snow review

Kästle has accustomed us to receiving its GS skis in the longest available length for our tests. This time, we had the same model in 178 cm. The skis earned highly favourable reviews from our testers. Comments included: “Very enjoyable and pleasant skis. They track exceptionally smoothly, particularly through longer turns. You can bend them into the arc without a fight. They provide a strong sense of control, while the ride remains extremely smooth and comfortable. Pleasant and predictable – they are simply enjoyable to ski.” Another tester wrote: “Very dynamic and lively skis that return the energy you put into them nicely. It is easy to change rhythm and move quickly from edge to edge. Very good in short turns. Only the initiation is delayed by the smallest fraction.” We also heard: “Very pleasant and effective GS skis for lighter skiers, and even for women. They accelerate well out of the turn. The section from the tips to the toe pieces is supple, which benefits less advanced GS skiers.” This was followed by: “Easy and pleasant GS skis for beginners taking their first steps towards racing. Entirely competent, but without a wow effect.”

Tester’s take
“These skis are in another league. The first impression is that they are light and supple, but that does not prevent them from being dynamic when required. Once loaded, they are composed through the arc. The flex is distributed very evenly. You do not have to throw yourself over the tips to initiate the turn or move into the back seat to release it. Wholeheartedly recommended.”
