On-snow review
Another Polish product from Majesty, the well-established Gdynia brand. This time its engineers expand the range with an All-Round ski. Testers reacted in different ways, although the word ‘calm’ dominated. Comments included: “Versatile skis that react well when you change style, moving from carved turns to skids and back again. They also adapt well to changing piste conditions.” Another tester wrote: “A pleasant surprise. Capable, easy and secure. They grip solidly, turn reasonably well and offer a decent sense of safety. Apply greater pressure and they return some energy, helping you enter the next arc. Without sufficient input, however, they are reluctant to move from edge to edge.” We also heard: “Her Majesty never lets you down – like a hot cup of tea after a full day’s skiing. Extremely turny in skidded turns using extension-unweighting technique, even on hard and icy snow. They absorb irregularities smoothly and cut through piles without difficulty. At higher speeds they demand considerable strength. They will unquestionably work as an all-day ski, but strictly on piste.” There were other voices too: “We never became especially close. The bindings – and even more the overall balance – seem too far forward. That makes them nervous, although quick from turn to turn.” And: “Characterless. Surprisingly, despite being light and supple, they cope reasonably well on hard snow and in longer turns. I miss power and rebound. Fairly stable.”
“A very pleasant surprise. Obedient and reasonably responsive. They are unafraid of speed and drive carved arcs well. They seem appropriate for a very broad range of skiers.”
