On-snow review

The Steadfast line has been on the market for two seasons, but this was our first test of the 85 mm version. It received an exceptionally warm welcome and finished second on points. Comments included: “A grin from the very first turn. Precision, stability and smoothness – pure pleasure. Long, broad arcs run as if on rails, and under pressure they tighten confidently into medium radii. Exactly what I expect. A quick venture off piste is merely OK, and that is the full extent of it. I recommend them for all-day piste skiing.” Another tester wrote: “Confidence in turn tracking is one of the qualities that sets these skis apart. Highly dynamic and eager to initiate. Excellent!” We also heard: “Superb skis. They run on edge over irregular terrain as if on rails. You can charge confidently through medium and long arcs. Initiation is clean, rebound good and comfort high; they absorb irregularities superbly. A genuine pleasure. Off piste in powder they also cope and inspire confidence.” This was followed by: “Brilliant skis – exactly what I expect from this category. Quite capable both on and off piste. They absorb irregularities and float in fresh snow, remain stable on edge and change rhythm easily. They do not demand much strength either. Bravo – complete skis.”

Tester’s take
“Powerful skis! The Double Core construction is intriguing. Wide, yet eager to make fairly tight arcs and change them dynamically. On frozen morning corduroy they run with the stability of a high-speed train. Total support and the hip down towards the snow – brilliant. Slightly softer tips and tails smooth out skidded turns and make short turns easier. They enjoy forceful, active skiing but can also be cruised. Comfort is good.”
